Ultraviolet Radiation

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is electromagnetic radiation. These radiation's are not visible to the naked eye. These radiation's are subdivided into UVA (400 nm wavelength), UVB (320 nm), UVC (100 nm). We don't have to worry much about the effect of UVC because it is almost completely captivated by the ozone layer and hence it doesn't reach the surface of the earth, but we do have to worry about the other two.

Many people are aware about the harmful effects of the UV rays emitted from the sun and also from the tanning beds.

General mindset of the people is that using sunscreens will protect from these harmful UV rays but they are not aware that many sunscreens do not provide enough protection from skin aging and avoiding direct light of the sun can prevent only a part of sun damage. Also, since its partly irreversible we should try our level best to protect sun damage.

People may tend to avoid going out in the sun. But this will have its own limitations, one wont be able to enjoy life, less exposure to sun light might affect your sleep and you may get affected by insomnia also, sunlight helps to produce Vitamin D in the body which is very important for the bones.

Wearing hats and staying in the shade will not protect you from UV rays so whenever you are out use a sunscreen. So to protect yourself from UV rays you need to do a bit of both by avoiding not to unnecessarily be out in the sun and if you have to choose a good sunscreen.
